first_imgAfter months of promoting adventure tourism in his State, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has “walked the talk”.The Chief Minister had taken a helicopter from State capital Itanagar to Upper Siang district headquarters Yingkiong for an official programme on October 12. But he decided to ride a motorcycle on his way back — at least as far as the nearest town — on Sunday.“The CM chose a 650cc Enfield belonging to an acquaintance and rode 122 km from Yingkiong (East Siang district headquarters) to Pasighat,” a spokesperson at the Chief Minister’s office said. He added that Mr. Khandu took two-and-a-half hours to cover the distance.Yingkiong is at 700 ft above sea level and Pasighat at 499 ft.The objective of the bike ride was to showcase Arunachal Pradesh as the perfect destination for a long-distance motorcycle ride and also to promote tourism in the State, the spokesperson said.last_img
