He has been sensational throughout and he is playing a terrific knock when it matters the most.Fakhar became the second Pakistan batsman after Salman Butt to score a hundred in his maiden ODI innings against India.Fakhar earlier survived a caught behind on 3 when Jasprit Bumrah overstepped for a No Ball.Interestingly, he didn’t play Pakistan’s first game against India, which was won by the defending champions by 124 runs at Edgbaston on June 4.He also became the third Pakistani after Saeed Anwar and Shoaib Malik to score a century in Champions Trophy.Fakhar made his debut in the ongoing edition of the ICC Champions Trophy against South Africa and has been his captain’s first choice opener alongside Azhar Ali. In his first game at Birmingham, Fakhar scored 31 off 30 balls to keep his place in the remaining matches of the Champions Trophy.High on confidence, the 27-year-old then struck 50 against Sri Lanka in their last league game, then 57 against hosts England in the semi-final and hit a solid 114 against India in the final before falling to Hardik Pandya in the 34th over.Earlier, he also became the second Pakistan opener to hit three consecutive fifties after Majid Khan in the ICC events.Fakhar also became the first Pakistan batsman to score three half-centuries in first four One Day Internationals.advertisementlast_img
