Man charged as court hears HALF A MILLION damage caused in Letterkenny fire

first_imgA man has appeared in court charged with an incident in which up to HALF A MILLION euro of damage was caused.Paul McGinley, aged 30, from Glen Hola, Gortahork, was arrested in connection with yesterday’s incident at Letterkenny Main Street. A total of nine cars were destroyed and two shops severely damaged when a fire broke out at an underground carpark at Rosemount Lane.Garda Emmett Brady gave details of officially charging McGinley who faces a total of ten different charges including one of burglary and nine of criminal damage.Garda Inspector Goretti Sheridan told the special sitting of Letterkenny District Court she as objecting to bail because of the seriousness of the charges.She also said there will be more serious charges.She said the matter was very serious and said they were now awaiting specialist engineers to arrive at the scene to assess the cost of the damage caused.Garda Inspector Goretti Sheridan arriving at court this morning.
