Having just filled one vacant seat, the Battle Ground school board will again go through the appointment process to replace longtime member Sam Kim, who stepped down Saturday.President Steve Pagel and three colleagues hope to choose a replacement for Kim on May 21. That person serve through the end of Kim’s term in December.The appointee may run for election this fall to a full four-year term, as may other qualified candidates.The application deadline for those seeking the appointment is 5 p.m. May 18.All standards and directions set by the board and Superintendent Shonny Bria are posted on the district website: http://battlegroundps.org.Applicants must be registered voters and residents of District 4, within the Battle Ground school district boundary. That’s the southeast corner of the district, roughly east of Northeast 72nd Avenue and south of Northeast 199th Street. (For maps, click on “School Board,” at left on the district website).
