4 BJP MLAs ready to join Congress in MP: Namdeo Das Tyagi

first_imgA day after two BJP MLAs voted in favour of a Bill in the Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha leaving the party in shock, Namdeo Das Tyagi, popularly known as ‘Computer Baba’, on Thursday claimed he had names of another four BJP MLAs who were ready to back the Congress.“Four BJP MLAs are in touch with me and they want to support the Congress,” said Mr. Tyagi, Chairman of the State government’s Ma Narmada Ma Kshipra and Ma Mandakini River Trust. “All of them are politicians with heft. Whenever Chief Minister Kamal Nath gives me the go-ahead, I will present their names before you,” he told The Hindu. Before being appointed on March 10 as the Chairman of the body tasked with conserving the three rivers and checking illegal sand mining on their beds, Mr. Tyagi was given Minister of State status under the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government as a member of a panel to conserve Narmada river. However, six months later, terming its government “irreligious”, he accused Mr. Chouhan of not keeping his promise to conserve the river. The MLAs didn’t specify their demands to him. “They’ll tell it themselves when the time comes,” Mr. Tyagi said.Accusing the BJP of playing politics of intimidation, he said he wouldn’t reveal the names now as the party would begin to intimidate him if he does so. “Mai bataa dunga toh yeh toh barah bajaa denge mere [If I reveal their names now, they’ll trouble me a lot]. When I quit the BJP, its leaders gave me a tough time. Everyone is scared of them. You know what Shivraj Singh Chouhan is capable of,” he said.A day after the Congress government lost the floor test in the Karnataka Assembly on Tuesday, the Madhya Pradesh government heaved a sigh of relief when BJP’s dissident MLAs Narayan Tripathi and Sharad Kol voted in their favour on the Criminal Law (Madhya Pradesh Amendment) Bill, 2019.“They were shouting in the morning that the Congress government stood on a weak footing, but they got a fitting reply in the evening. After these four MLAs come out in the open, I am not sure how many from the other side will cross over to the Congress,” said Mr. Tyagi.last_img read more

Oklahoma State Top Football Target Making Official Visit This Weekend

first_imgOklahoma State’s top target on the gridiron is making his official visit to Stillwater this weekend for the Texas Tech game. The top target, Evan Fields, is a safety and supreme athlete from Midwest City, OK, with offers from K-State, OSU, and high interest from the Sooners. He made his official visit to Manhattan last weekend, where he saw the Pokes come from behind to topple the Wildcats.Official visits are paid for by the university, which means they are able to roll out the red carpet to try and impress the recruit. So far, so good on that front. Here’a a pic of his room during the visit.https://twitter.com/Evan4_/status/797471078360682496The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect from Mike Gundy’s alma mater is a bit of a late bloomer on the recruiting front. Although OSU just jumped in recently, make no mistake he is one of the most wanted prospects by the OSU staff. With good reason, he’s a hard-hitting safety with excellent cover skills who would make a perfect fit on the back end of Glenn Spencers defense. With OSU set to lose Jordan Sterns and Derrick Moncrief at safety this year, they need someone to come in and contribute immediately at safety. Fields certainly fits that mold. While you’re here, we’d like you to consider subscribing to Pistols Firing and becoming a PFB+ member. Chalk Talk: A Closer Look At Oklahoma State’s Massive Change On Defense

first_imgThe Oklahoma State Cowboys used a different defense in their 45-44 shootout against Texas Tech this past Saturday. The game plan was good at times, and defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer shouldn’t receive all the blame for giving up 3.38 points per drive. The scheme had its flaws, but at the end of the day, it always comes down to execution. In this game, the Cowboys didn’t execute as well as they could have. OSU has made the change from a base nickel defense to a 3-3-5 set. Now instead of four defensive lineman and four in the secondary they have three lineman and five in the secondary. The base coverages in OSU’s new defense are the Cover three.cover3And cover four:cover4The number refers to the amount of deep safeties (two=two deep, three=three deep, etc.) with the rest of the defenders with hook-to-curl or flat responsibilities. OSU also does some cover six (one half and two quarters deep) and they occasionally mix it up by bluffing pressure or calling a zone blitz. They use the 3-3-5 to allow short passes and protect against the deep ball, and that’s fine. With this philosophy’s pros, though, comes just as many cons. It’s fine to go cover three or four, but when a team does it practically every down with the secondary (especially the safeties) playing way off, it open up holes in the zone. And Texas Tech took advantage of that.A lot. They constantly picked apart the deep hole between the flat and the safety on the sidelines (they ran this play plenty of other times, too):outsThe spot between the corner and the linebacker:spotAnd they frequently used RPOs (run-pass options) or quick passes to throw to the receivers who were left uncovered pre-snap (wait, didn’t we talk about this?).ttustickDon’t blame this all on Spencer & Co. If you think about it, the scheme makes sense, and the color commentator on FS1 even mentioned that it was the exact same game plan that Texas and TCU used against Texas Tech. The issue is that in order to pull it off (and not give up the big play), a defense has to play excellent zone coverage and they have to tackle well in space.Unfortunately, they still gave up the big play because they failed to play excellent zone coverage:behindAnd failed to tackle in space:bubbleAlthough OSU gave up points, head coach Mike Gundy was pleased with the new scheme and its ability to slow down Mahomes & Co.“The risk of making a wholesale swap … is whether you can make your adjustments,” said Gundy. “… There were times that we needed to make adjustments that were more difficult to make just based on not knowing exactly the ins and outs of the system, but I thought it was a good move. They had 510 yards or so, 96 plays, and when you look at it, they were 4.8 yards a snap, something like that [actually 5.4] …and we were nine-and-a-half yards a snap. So to me it worked.”The defense did find ways to slow down the Red Raiders, and Mahomes made a number of improbable plays to keep the chains moving in key situations. The scheme needs work, but you can’t judge it on just one game. They used the 3-3-5 against West Virginia, and it worked pretty well. Plus, against a team that spreads it out five wide as much as TTU does, offensive numbers will always receive a boost. Finally, OSU’s defense at its core, as in the actual players, just isn’t as good as many had hoped, so while a coaching staff can scheme and strategize, but sometimes giving up plays are inevitable. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.The Cowboys now look to their game against a very similar offense in TCU’s. Let’s hope that they’re able to use this week to work out the kinks. How do you think the defense performed against Texas Tech? Leave your opinions below in the comments! Freshman Evers Ready to Throw on the OSU Helmet

When incoming freshman Brendon Evers gets to summer camp in early June for his report date, he will put on colors he didn’t expect to wear.“My family was actually Oklahoma season ticket holders for the longest time,” Evers Goldberg Pistols Firing. “I grew up a long time thinking I was gonna have ‘OU’ on my helmet.”Evers, a defensive tackle from Bixby, Okla., said when he got to Stillwater for his official visit, the sincerity won him over. There was no one else to consider, and that’s what he said he will remember most about his whole recruitment.“I won’t forget how genuine Oklahoma State was to me,” he said. “How true to their word they were and how they didn’t really sugarcoat much of anything.”Defensive line coach Joe Bob Clements was instrumental in swinging Evers, he said. Something Clements told him early in the process stuck in his heart throughout the months, Evers said.“Remember what got you here,” Clements told him. “Remember your values and what you want in a school.”Ever said he had a bunch of other schools that he could have gone to, including OU, but none save OSU felt like a fit.He joins a group of bona fide Oklahomans with safety Malcolm Rodriguez, cowboy back Baron Odom and defensive end Brock Martin, his best friend. Of the four recruits in the Oklahoma State class of 2017, three of them are from cities with populations of fewer than 10,000 people.Bixby, though close to Tulsa, isn’t necessarily within earshot of downtown and has a population hovering about 30,000. A lot of that has to do with why many of those guys, including Evers, talk on a regular basis.“(We) talk about once a day usually,” Evers said. “We got each other on about every social media you can think of. … It’s definitely pretty cool to have guys from the state that are all elite players on their own teams come and try to contribute something to the state school.”Much like the majority of Oklahoma-grown talent, defensive tackles aren’t the high profile signings. Evers wasn’t the prom king at Bixby. He wasn’t nominated. But he said he is working out at least once every day to be “at par or ahead” of everyone else.He wants to squat more than 700 pounds, bench over 350 and work on his explosiveness.“I want to work on how fast I get out of my stance, my speed, shoot my hands faster, getting off blocks and extending faster,” Evers said. “That’s been kinda the key points.”Although the numbers increase as the days until reporting day decrease, Evers said he isn’t trying to get too amped. It’s still hard though.“It’s no secret; this year, OSU’s gonna be really good,” Evers said. “And I just wanna go in and be a part of that elite fraternity that so many guys have been a part of. I’ll strive to some day be like Vincent Taylor and the guys who came before him.”last_img read more

Conte praises himself for starting Willian vs. Barca

Conte sharply insisted he has not missed a trick by overlooking the Brazilian for big games until now. Maybe last season we won the title, or did I forget something?”Now he is playing because he deserves to play. But not because there is some regret from the past. For what? If a player deserves to play, and shows me during the training session that he is on top of his form, and wants to work defensively, he plays. If not, stay on the bench, stay in the stands.”But this is not only for one player, but for all my players. This is what a winning mentality is. Not if one player is happy or if he is not happy if he doesn’t play. It doesn’t matter. I have to make the best decision for the team. He is playing now and I am very happy with my choice.”Willian deserved to start in the previous game, and played well. I made a fantastic choice, and I want to take credit for that.”Willian has started 10 more games for Chelsea this year compared to the same time last season, due to an increased fixture schedule after a run to the semi-final in the Carabao Cup and the club’s involvement in Europe. Meanwhile, Conte will soon be involved in a reunion with Nemanja Matic, who was a key player in Chelsea’s title win last season. Chelsea sold Matic for £40 million to Sunday’s opponents Manchester United and Conte had only positive things to say about the Serbia international. “But about this player I can talk only really well because he played with us last season,” Conte said. “I think he was one of the key players in winning the title.Antonio Conte John Terry Nemanja Matic Chelsea Middlesbrough Premier League 08052017“Now Matic, unfortunately, is playing for Manchester United. I wish for him the best. Not on Sunday, but in the future.”Chelsea’s game against Barcelona marked the start of a difficult run of fixtures with Manchester United at Old Trafford up next, followed by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium just a week later. The Blues then face Crystal Palace before going away to Barcelona. Conte thinks that Chelsea need to keep all their players fit, with such a tough run coming up. “I think that we have just started to play massive games, with Barcelona, now United and City, then Crystal Palace and then another important game … also Palace is an important game for us, but then there is Barcelona. We have just started to play these massive games.”For sure, my hope is to have all my players available. When you have to play these massive games, you must hope to have all players available. Otherwise we are in trouble.”last_img read more

We were tired on the flanks and needed some more pace and width. Tottenham hit the post in the final minute, but Harry Kane was offside.”Higuain had been out for two weeks, Dybala only really returned on Saturday, so we need to get the others back to full fitness. Now we have a couple of games coming up in Serie A that will be crucial.”last_img read more
